Long Tribal Dress

These statues are handcrafted in Zaire (now called the Democratic Republic of Congo). They are Stylized figurines of men and women, carved from ebony wood and decorated with copper wiring.
Many of this figurines are adorned in tribal dress or beadwork. Traditionally, woodcarving is a male skill, which is taught from childhood.
